Went to the puyallup today and caught a mess of fish. I brought in a total of 10 pinks(which were released) and one nice coho in the 8-9lb range. The fishing is good if your targeting pinks but the silvers are still few and far between(mine was one of the very few caught). Use five feet of leader and any combo of red/pink yarn and corkies and you'll do fine. Also did see one guy keep and land a king but it was all spawned out. I think its stupid to kill a fish in bad shape while its in the process of producing more fish for future runs. Anways, good luck and enjoy the pinks while they last.

If it was all spawned out like you said, what does it matter if he kept it? Keeping any fish in the rivers is stupid according to your theory, because they are all in the process of spawning. And if the king was a hatchery, which it was if he kept it, then that is what hatchery fish are made for, keeping. Just my 2 cents.

Yes otherwise the hatchery fish spawn with the wild fish and pass on there bad genes. Thanks for the report.

King was just dark not "spawned out". Hatchery fish are manually spawned or milked after reaching the hatchery holding pond. They dont survive the process and are donated to food banks. So, if you catch a hatchery fish, eat it.

Hey guys I didn't mention this before but the king was a native. I would have reported the guy but he left with it right after he caught it. I told him to release it but I dont think he even spoke english. I know hatchery fish are meant to be caught. Sorry about the misunderstanding. It really sucks when you have people down their keeping illegal fish, and overllimiting. Keeping a native king is one thing but keeping an old boot native whos in the middle of spawning is just messed up.
