Ok, Ok, OK. Yeah I said I wasn't coming back anytime soon in my last report, but to be honest I don't give up that easily!

So, I decided to try my luck again, but this time I figured I could go later in the day, to try to avoid the drunk tubers. Originally I wanted to go to the Hwy 18 spot, however...there was a A LOT of people still, this was at 7:45PM. So I drove around the river and went up past the golf course again.

Finally found an open turn out and a rock beach. Hiked down and there was no tubers in sight, however I heard people, so I decided to try anyway. Through my hook in at 8:10ish PM. About 10 minutes later some tubers were in sight, but I hooked into a small rainbow right before they showed up. After they floated by I caught 4 more rainbows, about 6-8". Very small, but still I was pleased that I caught something.

Will probably come back again later in the summer.

The Green is an amazing river. Grew up there. To think if you would have tried this about 25-30 miles upstream, that little trout could have easily been 15 lbs. Try Icy Creek, or Palmer/Kanasket sometime. Nothing like being able to see them and pick your fish before you cast for em! And don't worry bout a few tubers, just work the water. And do make your first casts short, standing back a ways. Lots of times the big ones lay right along the bank and a sneaky cast will get em. Walking right up to the water surely wont.

Light gear, as little of weight (none) as possible, and present it naturally. And remember, they can see you, be sneaky.. They will spook faster by something moving around on the bank (predator) than something floating by screaming AC/DC lyrics..

That's Awesome! I love fishing the Green. There was hole up by Kanaskat that my brother, friends and I used to go to about 15 years ago when we were kids. I dont know if the trail is there or not still but I want to find it again. Has anyone seen any steelhead caught yet? I caught a bunch of baby rainbows a few weeks ago with my son down at the log jam near the 18 bridge.
