My cousin and I were on the water just before 7 a.m. up at the Davis Rd. launch. We caught 2 lmb around 8 a.m. using white scum frogs in the big slough just south of Davis Creek. We picked up quite a few smallies and a little pike throughout the late morning and afternoon around Dalkena. Most were caught on 4" watermelon grubs in the hot part of the day in 6'-12'. Didn't get any pike action until 7 p.m. when my cousin had a 15 lber grab his bass patterned swimbait near the surface. The fish went completely airborn after crushing his lure and he soon lost the fish after a minute or so. That pike nearly ripped the swimbait in half and unfortunatley was torn into 3 pieces 2 pike later. Largest pike to the boat was 8# and two smaller ones around 5# and 3". Total we caught 3 pike, 4 lmb, and 7 smb. Good times.

I was in a light tan 17" star craft. I think I saw you when we fri st got up to that area about 7 pm. You were fish or at least by one of the tall poles by the power line crossing the river. sounds like you did have some luck there.
