Decided to give Newman a break and headed up to the Pend Orielle river for some pike and bass. Put in off Davis road and headed down to Davis Creek to the big area of downed logs where we caught quite a few bass in the 2-4lb range, then headed up to a nice slough about a mile up stream and nailed a few more but as the evening came so did the pike. Man those pike are hard to hook once they hit! Had a nice one on, about 36" to the boat but as soon as the wife reached in the water with the net, he spit out my lure and took off! Had plenty of strike's on surface plugs, top waters and frogs but I just could'nt set the hook! Urrrggg! I'll be back!
