Started out very slow today, searched a good mile of river without much sign. Found one hole with what seemed to be a good group of fish but could not draw a strike. Just spooked um into hiding. Worked my way back to the car and came upon some friends fishing a nice shady rock pile. Long story short I watched a gentleman with a very light fly rod continuously hook fish but not seal the deal. He finally got a good hook set and the fish was heading down river fortunately for me the light gear sent the gentleman scrambling down the treacherous bank. By god he was gonna chase that fish to the ocean. I hopped into this sweet little hole and hooked two coho that were pretty red and three chum. Only landing one of the chum. By then the gentleman with light gear was sloshing his way back unfortunately he lost his fish.
and I gladly left the sweet little hole. Not a bad day did see one rod break 10# fly rod about a 15# chum. If the suns bright in the sky fish the shady holes. Good luck guys.
