Went out to the middle fork to do a little research. Water was fast and about 3' visibility. Found a bend in the river where the water was pooling up and started throwing everything I had into the water. Tried cranks, top water lures, flies, woolly buggers, everything I had that was within regulation. I got one hit by a very small fish 8-9" from a 3" trout swimbait and that was it. I didn't have bobbers with me, I'll try that next time. The water was freezing. I had nothing but wading shoes and shorts on, and couldn't go deeper than mid calf without it being to cold to bear. I'll check back in a few weeks. The road (exit 34) up the river is amazing. I might do some camping up there this summer.

hope you were using single barbless hooks on your cranks and top water lures since it is under the Catch-and-release Selective gear rule.

gian - Don't fish that stream buddy. It's full of steelhead smolt and the mortality rate is quite high. Winter steelhead are few and far between. Fish the Sky or better yet, the Cow. The Raging River holds occasional small bows that make it in from the main fork of the snoqualmie, but it's mostly steelhead smolt in there. Just an FYI. Tight lines ~KTK

Whoops I thought this was the Raging River...my bad...hey I'm going to PM you...

Let's get together and fish the MiddleFork up by the Taylor River in early July!!! I'm pretty good at fly fishing and you could do that or bring what that spinning rod w/ ya pinched barbs. I'll shoot you a PM and discuss it. Sounds like you want to get to know the streams better and I've fished the MF and SF like a gazllion times. Flows are too high right now...they need to be under 1,500. PM me or I'll get at you.

Sorry for the Raging mix-up...duh on my part. No coffee ~KTK~
