Took a drive out to Redondo pier for a squid trip at high tide. High tide was midnight, I arrived about 1130 and stayed till 130am. The dock was packed. I brought my light setup, and so did about 6 others, was a bright area! It was packed because reportedly, the squid action was hot the night before at high tide.
I caught about 10 squid or so, but gave them away to some of the younger guys that hadn't got many yet. Not worth the mess of cleaning for only 10 imo. Alot of the squid were the larger size jumbos this time, but the big schools just didnt come in. Saw a few salmon prowling for a midnight snack, no seals...
Another guy on the dock had just come up from les davis pier in Tacoma, where he caught 2.
This was my first trip of the year, and it sound like a decent squid season. But, as always it is hit and miss...
