My youngest son and I put in at Redondo and soaked 4 pots for 3 hours on the flat south of the launch a couple of miles and trolled a bit while waiting on the crab.
While trolling we used smallish Les Davis dodgers an Coyote spoons in UV down 55' - 60' on the wire. Oddest thing - the only fish boated was a flounder at 55' in 230' of water. Just strange. A couple of take downs - but no way of knowing what was at the other end. My boy did have one on for a bit - but it tugged like a dogfish and not a salmon - straight down. We didn't use bait, only artificials hoping to avoid the dogs.
For crab we used chicken thighs and razor clam digger portions with gut sacks. The razor scent put a lot of crab in our pots - however - most were decent sized females and some good sized rocks with the usual mix of juveniles. We took home one Dungey - that was well over 7" and six red rocks all 6" or better.
Made for a great morning and a great meal at the end of the day.
