left out of Westport early sunday morning on the SLAMMER. 90 minute boat ride and we are on the spot, "seen 3 grey whales and a calf up close on the way, pretty cool." on the ling spot and every one is catching fish but me, not used to the pool cues for rods, and also don't set hook ling cod fishing." after slapping my self a few times I finally learned to take a deep breath when they bite, let em swallow bait, then put the pressure on. not to much pressure though, the trick is to get them up to boat before they get a bad attitude. lots of action on lings and my girl friend caught about a 35lb halibut that had to be released. no halibut on sundays, bummer. after about two hours of constant action limits for all on board. rockfish next, short boat ride and on the spot again. switch over to bass rods and we had a blast. I caught three more lings on light gear and they kicked my butt. fast action on the rock fish and soon we are back in Westport with 40lbs of fillits
