Another wonderful day in the salt. The thick fog was a two edged sword, especially when your GPS is slow to respond to your turning boat. It took more time but I made it to my destination and then the fun began. With the fog there was calm seas. I was able to see my fly from a great distance. Watching Coho race over and eat your fly on multiple cast throughout the day was the ultimate thrill and then sky rocket out of the water like someone playing on a trampoline. I don't know how many time I received punishment from my mickey mouse knuckle busting reel but it was worth it. Ooh!!! it was worth it.

You need to learn to get your hand out of the way when the rod tip starts going away from you. LOL Nice report.

Hey 18ftTrophy, Ya, I bought a few redington fly reels with a clicker drag only but the drag comes loose as soon as you hook a fish. Its almost like free spool. so if you don't put your palm on the reel fast you get a bird nest. tried to tighten the drag screw but it strips out real easily. The reel is a lemon, that is probably why they do not offer that reel anymore.

I used to use a Winona for decades like my dad did, that reel also has no drag. It is the most simple reel out there. I caught a 25lb king with it a few years and I wanted to find another supper light reel with a drag. I now use a Clark fly reel as it has a sealed drag bearing so can be used in the salt, and I love it.
