I bought a 14 foot Calypso early this week I was excited to try out. It's the first boat I've bought. 2 buddies and I launched out of Mukilteo without any issues and headed south. We dropped two cages down about 50 feet halfway to where the land starts to curve out. Then we headed to the shipwreck to waste time fishing for flounder. We floated around for a couple hours then headed back up to our cages. Our first cage brought up 8 dungeness keepers. 12 total in the cage. Our second finished off the limit of 5 each for the 3 of us. That's the best I've pulled up in a few years. After boating all the biggest we headed in. It was a great first experience driving my own boat and catching lots of crab.
The bait I've been using is the salmon scraps from butcher at the grocery store for about $1.50 a pound. The crab seem to like the backs the most. Not the heads so much.

Did you catch and starry flounders?

Yeah, $15, but it's concrete with rocks scattered on it for most of it. We didn't get any starry flounder. Only a couple Sand soles.

You're brave to launch out of something as rough as Mukilteo *lol* Everett or Kayak Point has much better (and safer) launches. KP's only $7.00 for entire use of the park not just the boat launch. Anyhow, congrats on the crabbing and for sharing your story.
