So after 3 hours in the morning on the beach in Seattle, Episode 8 of Whorde Tries to Catch a Salmon continues .....
Finally got out and in the water in the neighborhood of 3:30
The wind was ... well, not howling, but there was a solid wind, and the amount of chop pretty much required trolling speed to get anywhere without a severe beating being delivered by the boat. So instead of going out to the yellow buoy, which at 7 miles was going to probably take 90 minutes, when we got to the end of the hook we just started trolling.
Had one line down 20-25 feet maybe, the other down 40-50 feet. Trolled up to the inner buoy about even with the smokestacks, turned around and trolled back to the end of the hook.
Zero bites.
Kinda surprising, as we have a long history of having fish hit in that general area. But today they were having none of it. We didn't even need to change herring pieces. Out about 3 hours give or take I'd guess. We gave it a solid shot given the conditions.
