Fished the 22nd and 23rd. were going to fish the 24th but not worth the slow action.
8/22- started late because of tides. i was at 55 feet, my dad at 35, and mom out the back with a diver. after a half hour or 45 minutes i got a really good downrigger release hit and it somehow someway didn't stick. that was all the action all day from coho. then after trolling went to pillar point in the kelp and jigged with macks lure sonic baitfish and picked up a limit of sea bass but no coho. there was bait all over but no salmon following.
8/23- started out casting today by pillar again and kept 1 HUGE sea bass. then kept drifting and found a big opening into the kelp and since the water was so clear we could see greenling going nuts over the sonic baitfish. we had 2 to 6 fish by our lure at once. after that we trolled for awhile with not a single hit. so went back to jigging and casting. and found another really good greenling hole. picked up 8 greenling total and 1 bass. 1 of the greenling was huge too. now we know where our bait source is next ling season.
