fished from 8/8 through 8/10.
8/8: slept in today and went out around 9:30 because of tides. got out there to pillar point and never got a nibble. out of the 12 days or so we fished here in july i had never seen it this slow. so we decided to call it and drive to cape flattery. the cape was absolutely gorgeous. i would have loved to drop Lingcod jigs in all those caves and neat spots.
8/9: today we got out at about 10:30 because tides were later. fised around pillar point the whole time and the only thing we picked up was one hatchery coho. SLOW!!!
8/10: my mom and dad fished in our boat and i was fishing with a buddy because he had nobody to fish with. got out early at 4:30 today. from the time we got to pillar until day light we caught fish but most were shakers. out of 8 or 10 fish only 2 were keepers. then it slowed down. we still were catching some though. awhile later we got 1 more chinook and a 6 lbs coho. we gave 1 to my mom and dad because they had none. we tried mooching for just a little bit and caught a dogfish and that was it. since 2 of the 4 fish were coho i came up to 50 feet and went for coho. in 2 hours or so i got 2 more wild coho. then the next fish i caught was a lingcod on a spoon with no bait. not big only about 18 inches but still cool. then we called it. all chinook were caught on green and glow hootchie with a red flasher and all chinook between 95 and 200 feet on the rigger. all coho caught on same rig just at 50 feet.
