So every year my daughter is here and not working on the Disney cruise ship, she loves to go chum salmon fishing. We thought we had more time but she got a call that they want her to fly her back to Texas this Friday to go back to work on the Disney Wonder; so we had to act fast and decided to hit Chico creek from the Tin cup today and play a little hooky from work and chase some chums.

Got the boat ready after work yesterday and we hit the road at 6:30am. Got to the little boat launch just north of the creek and 2 guys were there with bobbers and herring and moved so we could launch the boat. Tide was low but there was still enough deck to launch the boat and fish were jumping everywhere! We motored over to the little bay just south of where the creek runs into the sound and found a pod of chums and dropped anchor in 6 feet of water! lol! but kept us from moving around as tide was starting to move in.

Fish were jumping everywhere so we just started casting a red heavy bead with white eyes and purple and pink yarn with squid scent and a bullet weight and the fun began! We had herring cured to use under a bobber but didn't end up trying that due to too many hook ups and landing fish. We only ended up keeping 1 nice female semi- chrome fish but had a great time! Had to get to work so headed out about 10:45 but things were just starting to get active as they were jumping all around the boat as the incoming tide really brought them in.

Rated this a 4 due to enjoying my last few days with my daughter fishing before she is gone for another 5 months and just the overall beauty of the day and quantity of fish around! Will be back out there this Saturday with my buddy from Longview and have more time to get some more of those sweet chum eggs!

The Salmon Wellington dinner with asparagus and a wine/dill sauce was made with the some of the coho's caught a few weeks back on the Snohomish~ this chum is headed to the smoker but was surprised at how nice and orange/red the meat still was!

Not a bad launch~ good for one boat at a time and parking available up the road and across the street. There is not much of a slant so you have to back your rig down pretty far to get the boat off the trailer but you should fine.
