Launched out of Everett at 6:30 am and motored just south of the Mukilteo ferry. Very rare fall day where there was absolutely no fog and no condensation inside the boat. Lines in the water by 7:15 and trolled south to the shipwreck. No action for the first hour or so and then back to back tack downs where the fish would pop to the surface give a couple of head shakes and both gone. Then we hook a couple of shakers and then silence for the next hour. Finally around 11am we boat our first and only fish, a 6-7 lb. Coho hen. The only fish as well as the other take downs all went for a Gibbs red racer flasher with a 3" green grand slam bucktail tipped with fire brined herring strips. 60-90 ft of cable on the DR. We tried black hot spot flasher with black and white Ace Hi-Fly, no luck. We tried purple haze Hot Spot with purple Ace Hi-Fly, no luck. I didn't see any one catching fish and I talked to one boat at 10am that had caught one. Other than than, it seemed to be a slow day. We then decide to call it a day for fishing around 11:30. Water was flat and we see the sun shining north so we decided to head to Saratoga Pt. to drop some crab pots. This place was a go to place for me over the summer always scoring limits of monster sized crabs. This day, however was not going to be one of those days. The entire place was filled with hundreds of commercial pots. We got 5 but worked hard to get them. Fishing was slow and crabbing took work but the flat water and sun made for an awesome day.
