Got an easy start this morning, launching at about 7:30AM from Everett. My son and I headed straight to Shipwreck, and the first thing I noticed was a bunch of boats heading back to Everett...Oh, Oh...shouldn't have slept in! Lots of boats working from Mukilteo Ferry terminal to Shipwreck.
We put gear down at about 8:10, right at Shipwreck and trolled North. Green splatterback behind a QCove at 55' and green GrandSlam Bucktail behind a Red Racer flasher at 75'. Picked up a 9.6# buck on the 75'. I marked some fish at 100', so dropped the GrandSlam to that depth. In a short while had a 5# hen. Moved the 55 down to 75, and ran the GrandSlam back to 100. Splatterback was nailed at 75 with another nice buck. As my son was netting the fish, blam, the 100' popped. Almost forgot: herring strip cured in chartreuse Fire Brine on front hook of two hook rig.
We went 4 for 4 and we were headed back in at 9:15. LOTS of fish caught this morning! I don't think it mattered much what you put down, since we observed a bunch of boats heading back early.
