Since our church derby was a bust on August 10th we decided to pick a day in the near future to try it again so today was it. Had the same 2 guys with me again and since I was limited to my trolling motor decided to hit Redondo at 5:30am today.
Tide was high but new it was heading out fast so wanted to be on the water and trolling for a possible king or coho before switching gear to target pinks.

Started in 60-80 feet of water trolling south along the boardwalk with a pink/white coyote spoon tail wagger with a pink skirt thinking a king will hit this but so will a pink or coho if in the area and the other rod had on a brad's cut plug stuffed with some great cured herring. I was fishing around 40 feet of water when the rod with the coyote spoons starts to dance and it's fish on! Now I drew the long toothpick so was 1st up and the other guys did great to get the other rod out of the water and net the 1st fish of the day. We had 2 scales on board and it weighed in at 5lbs even so thinking it was a pink bonked it and put in the ice chest. As I was bleeding it out I looked over the fish again and realized it had no spots on it's tail and was a coho!! What a nice surprise!

Went back to trolling but soon the tide was ripping out pretty good so got ourselves a spot along the shoreline and anchored up in about 15 feet of water and started casting jigs and buzz bombs at passing pinks. Other boats were having success but we only had about 5 drive bys and a couple on that didn't make it to the boat. The north wind was picking up pretty good and I knew I was playing with fire if I waited too long to get back to the launch with an 10:42 minus tide this morning. Unfortunately just as we were getting ready to pull anchor I notice we are drifting to shore and my anchor rope is lose so go to pull it in and find out I have no anchor! Now how a 35lb pyramid river anchor could come off is beyond me because the clip was closed when I pulled it up.

Made our way back to the launch and my fears came to life as there were about 4 boats circling around for a spot to take out so we waited our turn and finally a spot opened and it wasn't too bad as the guys were pretty good and quick and no one was trying to launch which was a good thing because there was very little dock left and even less ramp!

Have to fly out to Salt Lake city for a couple days for work and then will be taking the Tin cup to All Seasons outboard on Friday to see about getting a new motor~ he has a 50 hp Johnson that I am going to check out so hopefully can get it switched out for the old Sizzler! Also will be heading down to Longview Friday night for the weekend as I have been invited to join my buddy and his guide friend on the Columbia at Buoy 10 for some Monsta kings Saturday and Sunday so hope to have something good to report Sunday night!!

Awesome report as always Barry. Great pics. Crazy about your anchor...right after your motor too. Hope your troubles are behind you! Good luck at Bouy 10. Looks like things are on fire down there!

Barry, between 2 of us we nailed 3 coho and 4 pinks off Meadow Point this morning in about 90 mins. Almost any pink Brad's cut plug works for both pinks and cohos. They are coming your way, so get that engine repaired and get back out there and load up. See you on the big lake after all this madness ends.

Sorry to hear about your anchor. The sizzler is just too bulky otherwise you could use it for a replacement anchor. You have a great attitude! Keep it up. Thanks for the report.
