We got the boat in the water around 8am and started jigging for chinook. All we managed for several hours were flounders. We saw a couple of fish boated and those on the shore were getting the occasional fish. Around 10am I decided to try for the pinks and put on a pink buzz bomb. Within five minutes I was into what felt like a nice fish and as we got it near the surface we could see it was no humpie, It was jumping and making strong dives and I was a little nervous when I saw a hook dangling out of its mouth.
After a few minutes we boated a nice 6-8Lb coho hen. The hook I saw was not mine, this baby had already given somebody else the slip. My first salmon of the season on my first visit to point no point, I was a happy man.
We fished for several more hours but only managed dogs and flounders, I did bring up a nice rockfish that was C&R'd
My buddy had a dog follow a flounder he had hooked and attacked it right as he got to the surface.
A few boats out but not too bad, the beach was pretty crowded.
