Tough, but fun day on the water! JPJames and I tested out the new downriggers I got in the off season and installed for the first time! As well as a fish finder! We fished hard after work on the south point of Shilshole area. Had a couple good solid hits that popped the riggers, but nothing was sticking but some flounders. Had a flouder come up to 60' to hit my bait in 160' of water...it was a mystery. We used green splatter back hoochies and some coho killers to no avail. Trolled all depths from 20-120 of cable and in water from 75 to 250. Tried everything we know except dynamite!
Highlight of the trip was being in the Small lock on our way home and a harbour seal was in the lock with us. 3 feet from the boat, then it decided it wanted to attempt suicide, by climbing out the back of the lock to the salt side and jump the 30' down! SPLASH!
Anyway, better day than sitting in the office, worse day than slaying hawgs and heading in early!
Tight lines,
kgowens
