We fished from self propelled kayaks near Cape Flattery and Makah Bay. We targeted lingcod, cabezon and rockfish. My primary lure was an 8" grub in either white or root beer with sprinkles attached to a 2-4 oz jig. Sometimes I used a 6oz jig and landed the best ling on the Big Hammer swimbait. Conditions were fantastic on the water, the surf was casual to launch and land as well. On Saturday afternoon some winds came in and created chop on our return from near the cape but that's about it for weather. We saw 3 gray whales and one of them was feeding within 100-400 yards from us for about one hour. We also had porpoises visit several times include one that was curious enough to come within spitting distance of me this morning.

Anyway the fish died and we ate em.

Motoboat....the yellow striped is a china rockfish, the red are Irish lords. Most people don't keep the irish lords but I find them as good eating as anything out there.

Yeah that is a fat cabby, I forgot what it measured in at but my guess is 24". The next day one of our partners landed an even bigger one from his kayak which I did not photograph. I landed at least 5 cabbys myself.
