Went to the dock at the shilshoal/golden gardens launch yesterday and had a blast in the sun. first thing I noticed when I got there was a huge school of herring under the dock, anyone looking for bait would caught about 3 dozen in ten minutes but I digress. Started out fishing the bottom for sole with worms and had a hook up about half an hour in. once I brought him in I noticed that I had foul hooked him. Such a shame this sole was about the size of a dinner plate. So I reluctantly tossed him back. Hooked up again on worms on a small one that would have been perfect bait for lingcod but I tossed him back. While fishing I also hooked the largest Dungeness crab I have ever seen come into this dock he must have been about 8 inches in width, alas I had to toss him back too. But come July first he's all mine :) nice to be out in the sun this week! Stay safe and tight lines!

NWFshHnter, Sounds like you were at the boat launch fishing pier? If you weren't aware, there is a MUCH larger pier located on "Dock A" within the marina. This is going South through the marina from where the boat launch is. The dock is very large, and you can almost cast out to the jetty depending on your casting skills. I always thought the dock at the launch was crowded, and kind of stunk for fishing.

No such thing as a snagged fish in salt water

Nice to know about the whole snagging thing schu. and yes quad father I did know that the other dock is more productive for fishing I just got lazy because I was already on the launch side from being on the beach and didn't want to walk all the way down to the other side of the marina.
