A buddy invited me to go fishing for lings at Neah Bay on Saturday. Drove out there Friday after work, slept in my truck for a few hrs and was on the water fishing around 6:30am. It was rough out, sloppy sloppy seas! It was a struggle all day to keep my balance and control of the gear with the boat rocking as bad as it was but it was all well worth it. We got our limit of lings plus 3 rockfish and a nice cabazon. 2 of the lings were good sized, one about 12lbs and the other about 15. The one I’m holding in the pic is the ~12lber. The other 2 were 25 and 26” so I’m guessing they were in the 5lb range. The rockfish were 1 black, 1 quillback and 1 yellowtail, all good sized.
We fished until 3ish and man was I tired when we got off the water, between the size of the gear and lead, bracing/wedging myself in the back of the boat to fish and keeping my body weight and center of gravity low it was a work out! Drove the 4.5 hrs home, vacuum sealed the fillets and barely made it into bed before passing out. My whole body is sore but it feels great!
