Decided to see if yesterday, and the day before was a fluke. Started at Shilshole ramp earlier than previous days. Called my dad the night before, to see if he was interested in helping with the filling of some available space in the cooler. He was not. It takes several positive trip reports before he get's excited enough to get up early.
On the water by 7: 40. Gear, same as day before. 15 minutes into the troll. Pole get's hammered. Fish pretty much came to the boat and into the net. Rolled up pretty tightly in the net and snapped the back hook off. That was the end of the wife's set up, until a new leader was tied up. Fish weighted 6lb-3oz. Grabbed my rod, with same set up as day before. Gear down, 10 minutes later "Pole is definitely doing something funny" as the line convincingly pops from the clip. I split the upright's. With one boat on my starboard, and a guide boat on my port. Several eyes watching as this 5lb-5oz fish is fought to net. It is now 8:05 and it has been 25 minutes since deploying the line for the first time. This day is done!.
Fresh fish for dinner tonight. Started off smoking the filet in the smoker, for 1 hour. Before finishing on the grill. Basted with a Asian sweet hot sauce. Had a side salad, made from head lettuce grown in the wife's backyard veggy garden, was delish!
There is always tomorrow. Wife has the day off. Who knows what days events might transpire!
