Well, I set a new family record at this lake! I went out there at noon, put a slip bobber in the water, and just started wailin on those fish like there was no tomorrow. I caught and released five at about 6 feet within a half hour, all recently stocked, off just a worm.
Lately I've been reading about jigs and lures, so I rigged up a little crappie jig, tossed it out about 15-20 feet, and began to jig it back after about a minute or so. After awhile I got the hang of it, and caught and released another 8 smallies in two hours.
Lastly I resorted to flies when the dock finally emptied (That way I wouldn't snag anyone... And wouldn't embarrass myself while trying to get the hang of fly-fishing). Within an hour, I had got another 4 smallies on a coachmen.
This, next to the first time I caught a fish, was definitely the most fun I've had fishing in a long time! I didn't catch anything big, the biggest being about 12 inches, but so many fish was definitely great! I ended up leaving about 4:30 or so, 17 fish total! All caught and released.
