Tried out squid fishing tonight for the first time and failed horribly. There was a small group fishing when I got there. They were all prepared with work lights aimed down the water. I asked if I could fish by them since I didnt have a light and asked for tips.

I watched them and set up a double jig on my rod 2-3 feet apart. I flip my rig out and let a little line out like them and jigged away. For the next two hours, I didnt catch anything. Probably saw a less than ten squid caught mostly by one guy. It sucks not knowing how deep the area was and where the squid were in the water column.

They said it was slow, so I guess my chances werent that great to begin with. I left when winds from the west were gusting into my face and made my eye balls sting. If I had snowboarding goggles, I would of worn them to protect my eyes. By the time I got into my car, my fingers were numb. It was a learning experience and I have a lot to learn. Not sure when I want to freeze again and not catch anything.
