We left the Olson dock around 6am. It was slow today. The wind was blowing so the chop was worst but there wasn’t any fog. We ended up with 3 Coho salmon. I think both small ones were on the deep 6 around 30 pulls on the spoons. Again nothing was caught on squid type lures except shakers. Lots of shakers were hooked. We changed our presentation so many times trying to get those fish to bite. The last Coho was caught on something really different. I promised myself I was going to buy a Purple Haze flasher this year. So that was the flasher and the lure was a beaded lure I put together to try in the salt. The fish hit the lure, I think it was about 35-45 foot down, and went straight up and into the air. Glen said “Toni you’ve got a fish” and it was airborne. I thought I lost it at one point but I realized that the flasher was riding the waves. We got it in, it wasn't going to get away as both hooks were connected. It was maybe 8 pounds but it was exciting watching it jump. Then Glen told me I had to name the lure. “Black Necklace” So don’t be afraid to go against the standard. Then we went bottom fishing again. It wasn’t as good as the day before. The wind was blowing us to fast to present the jigs very good but we got a few. I was hoping for black rock fish or another Cabazon but it didn’t happen. Then it was time to go in and clean fish!. It was a very nice fishing vacation. It was fun being with Cami and Glen and Cami's dad Dave.
