Well finally got my first area 11 chinook of the year today~ was not sure if I was going out or not but when I woke up at 4:15am realized this might be my day. Since I was not sure I was going didn't have anyone scheduled to go with me so headed to the suddenly popular Redondo launch at 5am and was on the water by 5:15- started seeing pink schools swimming by but decided to stay targeting the kings so started with the green spackle back hoochie. After no action decided to switch to my old standby the Irish cream coho killer and after moving my target area from 45 feet to 30 feet, BAM Fish ON! I knew right away it wasn't a pink as it took off about 50 yards of my Izorline before slowing down enough for me to start working it back to the boat. After a couple more screaming runs I finally was able to put my first Redondo king in the net~ it seemed like there were more kings caught out there today too.
did mark large schools of either bait or pinks all morning!
