It was still slow, at least as pinks go. I launched at redondo and ended up down the beach by the trailer park. There is a white bouy just before the sand bar. That was the only place they were schooling enough to catch them. If pic. of jigs posts, The left side has caught fish, bu the top one was the hot one today it was 1/8 oz. The bottom two are one size heavier but don't remember weight. You can see how ugly bottom two are but they still catch fish. Right side still need to be tested. The worm on bottom was cut down and put on a jig and caught about 40 two years ago. Fish were in about 10 to 30 ft of water.

Most guys say watching a bass explode a top water lure is the best but I think watching a school of pinks fight for your jig under your boat is better. It happened a few times today. it looked like the fish would try to bite at another fish before it would bite at the jig.

I also caught 3 more rock cod all small though. I was worried about the population but it appears they are ok. I also saw lots of juvinile salmon. The best fish was a king about 25 or 30 lbs jumping about 3 ft out of the water next to me. I wish I could have hooked that one.
Hope the info helps some one. I read that there aren't as many this year as two years ago so this is about as good as it is gonna get.

It is not "as good as its going to get" the peak of the run is still a few weeks off, the San Juans are completely swamped with pinks right now. Although, the total projected escapement is less than 2 years ago, I predict it will still be a very good year.

If you google "2011 pink salmon forecast" I clicked on the article from "The Olympian" There is an article and all the numbers are posted on the left down a little bit. Aricle speaks for itself. Pinks are listed first. The green is probably going to be the best river.
