Took my son in law over to Sekiu this week. First time he has ever been salmon fishing. But it didnt take long and he handled the downriggers, rods, net etc like he has been doing it 30 years. Started Monday afternoon and came back on Thursday. We targeted Chinooks, got 6 of which 3 were wild and 3 were hatchery. We kept the hatchery fish 24, 18 and 12. The Chinook bite kind of died, so we went out into the Strait now and then, gobs of Pinks, one every 10 minutes or so. Also caught 14-15 Silvers of which only one was a hatchery fish.
Total score, 3 Nooks, one Silver and I did keep 5 Pinks even though I'm not a big fan of eating Pinks. Hot Spot and Coho Killers in Cop Car and Cookies n' Cream.
For you Pink lovers, there are gobs of them coming.
