Fished from 10am to 4pm today and went one for five. (should've been two, but the fellow that offered to net one of the fish for me was perhaps the most uncoordinated individual I've encountered in a while) Probably could've hit a few more fish if I was a little more motivated to chase the schools up and down the dock - which, incidentally, is apparently the method of choice for about a dozen+ regulars there. While it's slightly ridiculous, it is apparently effective. Though to be honest, I'd skip doing this unless you're fairly experienced. I saw a lot of newbies pissing people off by mindlessly casting over the top of people's lines and/or genereally being a pain in the a$$.

I decided to skip wading today because the "people watching" on the dock is kind of fun. It really is a complete freakshow. It's the very definition of combat fishing. Now a lot of us throw that term around, but let me tell you the dock at Dash Point makes the bank of the Puyallup feel like a scene out of A River Runs Through It. I've fished the dock twice in the last week and I've seen two guys get into a shoving match, a guy try to drift a pink spoon with an egg weight & salmon eggs & piece of cut up sculpin, a guy wearing a fish fighting belt get handcuffed by the police after he got into it with a girl on the dock, and this morning I saw a woman catch a fishhook in the face. Yes, the face. I imagine that was painful.

My advice on Dash Point: Go there if you want to people-watch or don't have any other options (ie - no boat or no time).

Personally, I think I'm done with the silliness there. I'll just wait till the fish start entering the river.
