Got out again today with a couple of buddies to hit up some lings. The spot we have been fishing was slow today but 2 of us managed keepers at 7 and 8 lbs. My other buddy broke off a keeper in a kelp bed and caught 3 justr under size. Caught and released a ton of sea bass again today in the 2-3 pound range. They are fun on a trout rod with 8lb test! Too bad they are gonna be off limits for a long time!

Also had another first today. I was getting bit by a ling and then my buddy did as well....he set the hook and nothing came of my bite...when my buddy was landing the fish my line started heading in toward my buddy. The ling he caught had both of our hooks in its mouth so he took my bait and then ran in and grabbed my buddies! It was about 24inches so it went back but thought that was pretty cool!

Elkramer-Are you being serious or is this some kind of joke? Those are clearly lingcod which look nothing at all like black rock fish. Did you read my post? It says clearly that we caught and released several sea bass because they are thick were we fish for lings. We have to use a 1 and 1/4 ounce weight just to try and get through them. I think its time for an eye exam. Make sure you know what you are talking about before you acuse someone of keeping rockfish which will be off limits for the rest of our lives probably.
