I really thought I would pull a repeat of last monday and tuesday. BUT, the fish thought otherwise! The salmon that I hit 2 days in a row (mon & tues) moved out or got swallowed up by the gang of seiners working the area. I heard them on the radio, 1 vessel caught about 2,700 lbs per hour, I think there were 4-6 in this one group, all I wanted was about 40 pounds! I don't hold it against them, it's their lively hood. It was going to be a 2 day trip but 1 day of bouncing around hard was enough. I did catch a jack chinook, released, and a 30 inch coho hen that couldn't be more than 8 or 9 pounds, she wasn't fattened up like the ones I caught earlier this week. She'll be a wonderful guest of honor at the dinner table! Now is the time to start hitting the ocean coho entering the Sound. I only heard a little bit about a great day at CQ, Olson's Resort report, earlier this week. I'm hopeful the run will be heavy as predicted and spread out a bit so I have time to catch em! I'm hoping just a few more days till I run to Bush, about a week till I hit Possession and the shipwreck. I'll try a couple rivers in a week to 2. Ace Hi Fly worked very well mon and tues. I am a bit handicapped on trying additional gear at the same time since I was fishing solo, only one rod. Tues was spectacular!
