Three of us just got back from 4 days 3 nights @ Sekiu. Arrived 8/5 fish that afternoon 2 hatchery, 1 wild (C&R) & 6 shakers all Kings.
It the water early 8/6 appx. 5 a.m. couldn't find the fish & 1 of my buds wasn't doing real well with the combo swell and wind chop so we went in about 8 a.m. with 1 keeper @ that time. He took Dramamine & we hit again for the evening bite. with better luck, put 2 more keepers in boat.
Knowing the meds worked we hit the water early Sat. 8/7 rounded the corner to fish the Caves, ZILCH for about an hour so @ 6:30 we headed to Slip Point. First pass "fish on" 1 keeper & 2 shakers. Second Pass, doubled 2 nice keepers & 1 beauty of a wild. Then it seemed like every time we turned the boat a pole was going ended up limiting 6 fish in the box by 9:30 a.m. WOW!
Sun. 8/8 we had decided we would fish until 10:30 then roll up head home (long drive to Puyallup area) we went straight to Slip Point & it was pretty much same as the day before didn't quite limit though we came in 5 nice Kings. Would have limited but once again we had a double I got mine in net & in the boat, hook out, fish out of the net just as Steve lost what my guess was a fish well into the 20's, broke the leader off on the kicker.
All total it was good action. good size to almost all fish only 2 kept that we measured to make sure, all the rest no doubt about large enough. 120' to 180' of water, 85' to 105' of cable. 1 pole fished continually with spatter back glow flasher and green/white dbl glow sonic edge spoon,(that was lost on the one that got away) I switched around a bit, but most productive was Super Cut Plug in Jack Pot & Coyote Spoon 4" Glo/Gr/Cht.
First time I have ever ran flasher rudders & and flasher along with typical flasher lure combo. I like it so far.
Go to Sekiu, catch fish. If they make it to the Sound fishing should be good over the next month.
