A buddy of mine from work and I fished Possession this morning for silvers and after a few hours and 3 shaker blackmouth in the 2 pound range safely released, I hooked and landed an 8 pound silver. About 10 minutes later my poll goes off again (midway through cleaning the silver) and this time the fish is bigger and taking line from my reel, (feels like a king). After a great fight I get the very nice king to the boat and released him unharmed. I estimated the king to be around 12 to 14 pounds. After that we dealt with more shakers until noon when we called it quits. BBQ’d a nice piece of the silver this evening and it was amazing. The silver and the king were both caught in 100 feet of water, on the east side of the bar, depth was 85 feet. Both were caught on a green hot spot flasher and a cop car Coho killer. The first 2 hours were spent uneventful using a green spatterback squid. Also, the silver had a belly full of herring. Good trip but they weren’t jumpin in the boat by any means. Calm waters, clear and sunny, no wind.

Thanks guys. I'm a big guy which I think makes the fish look small in the pic. It was a nice fish and fought well. I've eaten it BBQ'd twice including just a few minutes ago and man it is some tasty fish. I am hoping for one more trip out in the salt for silvers before they thin out. Mike tells me they should be in the salt for another week or so before it slows so I'm hopin for one more.
