This week the tides have fit my schedule just right. I went down to the beach for a couple hours every night (M,T,W,T,F) at our around high tide. Monday thru Thursday, hooked & lost a couple but pretty quiet. But Friday was a little different! Hit the beach at 6:30pm, wind was pretty strong from the south, but the waves weren't too bad and the wind had taken all of the seaweed away (bonus). Right away I foul hooked one about 18", was able to shake it off at the waters edge. 1st time I have foul hooked a salmon - thought that was odd. Soon after I hooked up a 18" pink hen, a little later a 9" searun cutt actually hit my pink 3" buzzbomb (released). A little while after that I cast my line and as soon as it hit the water a fish jumped on the same spot, tug-reel-tug fish on! This one had some shoulders compared to the others I have been catching. Took me up & down the beach a little and made a couple sprints when he got to close to shore. Finally got him beached and heard clapping behind me, turned out I had an audience of beach walkers take interest in my catch. 24" pink buck! Never seen one that big before. My PB for salmon (of any species) off the beach! Home by 8:30pm.
