I got back on Monday 18th from 10 days on the sunshine coast of BC.Weather was great except for one day of wind and rain.Salmon fishing was not as good as previous years,no kings a couple of coho.If i had some small 3 inch anchovies that the cohos were ripping up I hope/think I would have done better.I had my brother and nephew out fishing for the first time and was able to get them into some nice lingcod and rockfish so they were having fun.Prawning this year was okay.My favorite spot out in front of the cabin was being heavily trapped by the locals and just when I was starting to get good hauls,my trap disappeared.I think a tugboat that came roaring in ran it over or someone kyped it ,I say this because when I dropped it in 280ft with 360ft of line out at almost high tide in the same spot I had been dropping it at the last few days with no tidal movement even budging it since empty it weighed about 25# and had leaded line, the locals do not even use traps as heavy as mine was.At least the prawns were on the large side and quite tasty. Also had other bad luck this year.broke a downrigger pole, lost a few flashers, downrigger balls, spoons, hootchies .The area is like fishing the San Juans you are trolling along in 120ft and all of a sudden you are in 20ft then 200ft without getting any farther from the shoreline. Then on the way back the boat cover ripped in half. I still had a great trip as usual.Heading up to Telegraph Cove next Monday for a free guided trip.I hope I get the mojo back for that.
Mike

You will have fun at Tele Cove. The coho are in right now and it's easy limits. Chinook -- work a bit harder for them right now. Good report!! KTK
