Got to the Redondo boat launch at 2:00 pm spent an hour at the launch watching a circus. Finally got on the water about 3:00.. Trolled on Redondo side for an hour and did not get a bite. Headed over to Pt Robinson and put the gear back down. Had my rigger down at 60 ft and my buddies was down to 80ft in about 115ft to 125ft of water. Around 5:00 my rod popped of the down rigger.. I grabbed my rod and my line started to spool! than felt nothing..it popped up.. Dropped my rod back down again and my rod started bobbing... I brought up a little coho about 15 inches and threw it back... Around 8:00 we were about ready to go back in when my rod popped of the rigger again! My line started spooling and I saw king come out of the water about 50 yards out! It jumped 4-6 more times and than started running with the boat than towards the boat. I guided the fish around my buddies down rigger line and I was able to get it into the net. Turned out to be a 15 pound hatchery king! It was one of the more acrobatic kings I've caught. My buddy did not get a salmon but I consider one salmon a pretty good trip around here these days.... Tons of bait in the area.
Fished with a red flasher and double glow white hoochie w/ herring.
