Went fishing with my son James and friend Tom. We started 6am out of Shilshole, fished about 1/2 hr till it was more light and ran up to the oil docks south of Edmonds. Our gear: DRs on the corners and center line was a deep six. The deep six rod had the first fish right away at 6:30. The set up: dodger and silver/green spoon with a herring strip. It was a feisty coho and a great way to start the morning. Things slowed down until 8am when we hit our second fish, 75 ft on the rigger - lg green hotspot flasher, lg green hoochie, and herring strip. This one was an 8-9 pound brute. After that we had another quiet period until from 9-10:45 we had a run of five fish, catching two. The hot rod was again the center deep six rod, this time with a red small flasher and army truck hoochie plus herring strip. Forty pulls out. The riggers each had a fish at 75 and 85 ft. We lost three hits. High tide was noon, we stopped fishing at noon (James was ready to come in). All in all it was a better day out there (at least for us) than Saturday. Seemed like more nets in the air and a decent 8-10am bite overall. Caught fish going both directions. Seemed to be better closer to the oil docks. BANANA REPORT: Tom doesn't know about the banana curse and fortunately his banana fell out of his lunch bag early in the morning. I promptly tossed it over the side of the boat. We caught our first fish shortly after. Didn't catch any fish while that yellow fruit was in the boat. Tom now understands about bananas.
