On Saturday I went out to Roesiger, fished in the absolute poring down rain, and got my butt handed to me. So Sunday I decided I needed to feel a little better about myself and went back out to Goodwin. Launched about 7:15 and fishing by 7:30.
I started off one rod with a green Doc Spratley, Macks dodger, and about 1/8th ounce weight just to get it down a few feet. The other off the downrigger, olive Woolly Bugger and Mack dodger, scratching around 5 foot from bottom. Both lines saw action most of the morning.
Action was steady enough to keep me on the lake for about 5 1/2 hours. I may have stayed longer, but it did slow down on the towards the end. Most fish released today, though I did keep 1 fat and healthy 18 inch fish ( again found 5 feet from bottom), and later another 12 inch fish that didn't look like he was going to have a good chance of making it. Action wasn't blazing hot, but I would guess every 15 - 20 minutes something either hit my line, got off somewhere on the way to the net, or made it all the way in. Except for the last hour - hour and a half where it had slowed down.
Surface water temp was up to 48 early, and got to 49 when I had left. Nice day, a little windy at times, but it sure as heck was better than Saturday, and I feel a little better about myself now too :)
A few of the fish from Sunday. Some releases, and the largest shown kept.
