Went to Pattison lake after a long winter. Water temps from 48.7 to 50.0. The lake is a big cereal bowl as far as structure. I tried to find combinations of drop offs with weedlines off shore. Drop shotted and dragged a carolina rig, nothing. Threw a crankbait, nothing. Tried to pitch jigs around wood exposed to sun, nothing. Tossed a suspending jerkbait and did the twitch, count to 20, twitch, etc. Caught one 12 incher doing this but he was foul hooked in the back. Still got #1 out of the way for the year. I don't think he was trying to commit. Decided to deadstick a small Senko and caught two nice rainbows around 14 inches.

Thanks for the report. I just noticed that Pattison is now listed as a year-round lake. I've only had decent success catching rock bass here (C&R). There are some big trout in here too though if that's your thing.

Im not huge into trout fishing unless its in streams. Planter trout are too fragile and don't seem to survive C&R too well. Pattison fishes tougher for bass but the fish I catch are really healthy looking. I figured since it was warmer than Long or Hicks and cold water being a quality game, Pattison would be a better bet. Oh well.

Good report and way to try everything. I find top water minnows work for me but key is figuring out how long you have to let it sit, what twitch pattern they like or if they are in a look at and then chase it mood. I get a lot of my bass letting it sit then getting a nibble or swirl behind it and then quickly retrieving it some pausing giving a side twitch reel and lot of time they will slam it on the pause or the stop and go. Sounds like time to dust off the boat and find a favorite shallow lake and give it a try. Colder then last year so figured might take longer this year to warm up and Lake Cassidy by me is way high on water level with all the rain we have had. Thanks for the report.
