It has been a long 117 days since I last fished so it was nice to get out on the water finally and give Moses Lake a shot. All the ice is finally off the lake. I fished the south end from the I-90 bridge down to the Gaileys Island area. Tried trolling various spinners and crankbaits in different colors and tried jigging with no luck. Didn’t see to many fish on the electronics except a few that were suspended 12’ off the bottom, probably carp.

There were about 2 dozen bass boats out and I didn’t see anybody catching anything and spoke to a couple guy’s bass fishing and they had not caught anything, so I guess I don’t feel bad. Fished the usual spring locations that have produced in the past in water that was 5’ to as deep as 19’ and used planer boards so I don’t spook the fish, not even a bite from perch. I may try Potholes next weekend.

I tried Moses lake yesterday for 5 hours. No luck, very few fish on the electronics. Try the north end in a couple days.

On the 16th I tried for 2 hours on the southwest side of the Alder St. fill. No luck on my part but across the bridge I saw 2 fish caught - I wasn't close enough to see what they were or what was being used. Try again tomorrow.

Hope it turns on soon on the north end. My dad and I have a trip planned in two weekends up there. I told him if it the fishing is still cold we should just do our trip up at the Spokane arm. I have a feeling potholes isn't going to be that great this year, I think it's on a downward cycle, three years ago was easy limits, two years ago it seemed like we had to work harder for our limits, then last year later in the spring we had to work hard for 5-7 fish days. Then earlier in the spring around late march we got skunked. First time ever we had gotten skunked at potholes for walleye on a trip. Last year was a pretty early spawn though and my dad doesn't like trying to maneuver up into crab creek to fish up there where they spawn.

I think this 12" walleye size is a bunch of crap. I liked it when the min was 16 on potholes and 18 on Moses, that was quality fishing. I think the walleye are getting fished out.
