Finally made the trip out to Fourth of July Lake yesterday with pretty good success. Fished from about 10:30am to 3:00pm and the 2 of us landed 3 fish. Smallest was 16 inches and the other 2 came in at 19 and 21 inches. The ice is good, mostly 4 to 6 inches, but some spots around the edges are still thin.

Looks more like a mass murder with all that blood. I take you were not doing catch and release.

Great catch! This will be my first time out East to ice fish this lake and am looking for some tips. Would you recommend it over Hog Canyon? Did you use tip ups or were you jigging? I was considering being on the ice by 7am. Is that a bit early?

Was out on Fourth yesterday and didn't get a bite. No fish being caught around us. You might give Hog a try. Try power bait, corn, maybe worms... I've never tried jigging at either of the lakes so I cannot say yes or no there. I don't use tip ups, I just use an ice fishing rod in a holder. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.
