Stopped by Wiser after leaving Fazon to check the algae level and found the lake fairly clear and the water level high so I decided to launch. I fished down the entire north side without so much as a spooked fish? Threw Senkos, swim jig, flipped and tried topwater but I didn't hit my first fish until the lone dock at the east end of the main lake, 2.1lbs.
Fished the area but no other takers. Cut over to where the lily pads start on the south side and caught another 1.? on a Senko in the pads. Fished all the way back west to the Guide with only another dink to show for it. Fished the Guide with a swim jig as this is the only thing close to a transition bank on this lake. Sat in about 5-6 feet of water and casted to shore, slow and steady retrieve. When the fish hit there was zero doubt it was a good one! It was just a question of how good?! She came to the surface quickly and head shook, then a couple boils on her way in....under the boat and then back out with another headshake, that one scared me, worked her around one more time and grabbed her! BIG!
She went 7.5 which on my scale means 7lbe 8ozs! Dandy! I cut under the Guide and tried to fish the west lake but this side is nasty! Everything has a thick green slime on it and it just cakes your lure. Pulled the plug on that side and headed back east. I hit a couple more spots and tried putting the boat in about 8' and casting to 3-4' where the weeds lightened up but the only other fish I caught was a little guy back by where the chunk grabbed me.
Good day, definitely will get better as the water temps are still right at 60*
