Had errands in the area, so I figure I'll bring the boat with me and fish.
Turns out, free launching today since nobody was at the booth. Sweet.
Tough fishing. Worked shallow. Then a point. And worked my way out deeper. Found a couple of small SMB in about 17' of water. The biggest was a little over a pound. Nice and fat and had this really pretty green/gold color. Didn't show up in the picture though.
Kept having rapid taps. Was curious as to what they were. Eventually, I hook one. Perch barely the size of my bait.
Moved around and fish more shallow and in shade to see if anything is out there. Not much action for me except for several more bait size SMB. They were super skinny and weird looking to me.
Eventually I get to another point. With a solo dock with deep water access. Cast to one side with nothing. Cast to the other side and felt the bite. Set it and this feels like a tank compared to all the previous fish. Got a good look at it and it's not a bad fish. Scoop it into the net. Verified it's just a little over 2# SMB. Tried to repeat the same pattern without any luck.
I started fishing those long points that are just east of the boat launch. They have these grass clumps scattered. Saw lots of little fish hiding in there. Just caught me more dink sized SMB.
Saw a couple other bassers out there. It was nice out.
