Well, never fished Lake Sammamish and I have lived here my whole life. Got my “honey-do list” done early and had some time to kill called a buddy and asked if he wanted to hit the lake. After reading on here that back around the beginning of the month the Cutthroat’s were hitting on Lake Sammamish I figured what the hell give it a try. We got to the lake around 11:30, motored out from the Issaquah boat launch and headed up along the east shoreline about 60-100 feet out from the buoys for about a mile trolling green wedding rings w/worm. No luck. Around 1:30 we cut across towards an area with a lot of snags exposed and headed south along the west shoreline (same distance from the buoys). We switched from top gear and went to Deep Six divers (about 30-40 pulls down) w/4’ lead and a flasher, another 4’ lead and a spoon and hit the fish. Silver spoons and I had a yellow/green spoon my buddy had silver w/blue stripe. He caught more fish with the silver spoon. Not the fastest day fishing or the slowest, but a great day. Trolled back and forth through that area for the rest of the afternoon. The fish were all Rainbows over 16”, I would have to say that we were at the point that we were not ranking the fish by inches, but by the pound. NICE FISH, for western WA that is. Although we were heading out to catch Cutthroat’s, ended up getting some real nice rainbows. Even though my buddy caught 3 fish to my 1 and my 1 perch, still a great day on the water, (I am going to buy some silver spoons). Good luck and tight lines, Semper Fi.

Nice haul! Only bad thing about this story is the fact that I wasn't with you and Steve to help you guys haul them in.

Ok, it is killing me, Steelhead & Toni, I swore they were Rainbows, hard to tell the difference, well for me it is. Thanks for the heads up.

The one on the left looks like a cutt/bow hybrid.(looking at the heavy spotted tail).....might be wrong.

Congrats on the Cuts! I thought it was rainbows also first time I fished it, but the red below the lower jaw is the mark of a cut throat no doubt about it. That lake is on fire in the afternoon, troll in front creek in the south end of the lake 40 feet down wedding rings tip with worm all day. Big ones like the weather bouy in the center of the lake, troll east to west towards the park and zipper to the south end of the lake.
