I bribed my wife with breakfast if she would go walleye fishing yesterday. I think it was making sure we had enough fillets in the freezer that sealed the deal. We launched at Coulee City and were pulling plugs by 9:00. 45 minutes later we had only a single smallie so we switched to bottom bouncers/slow death set ups and began boating eyes. We worked flats on the south end and found weed beds when ever we got in less than 18 FOW. We tried to stay in 18-20 FOW and the fish were scattered. We typically got1-2 fish with another bite or 2 in one area then nothing for 15-20 min. We then moved to the flats below Rosebud and had the same result and scattering of fish. We ended up with 15 eyes 16-19 inches. Headed in about 2PM when our crawlers ran out and the wind was picking up. Sorry no pics today, had my hands full keeping 4 rods baited and free of weeds and working the troller on a windy day. Another great day on the water with my best friend!
Learn from my mistake. I neglected checking the water level in my trolling batteries for 2 years until their output was noticeably down. My 2 new batteries worked great yesterday and was advised to check the water levels after 10 charges. I will try and remember to check every 3 months.
