We fished Wannacut from June 10th through June 12th - primarily in the mornings due to some tough winds in the afternoons and evenings. The fishing was excellent for fat rainbows - mostly 12 inches. Our largest was 16 inches. We fished mostly black and green wooley buggers, carey buggers, and black leaches with an occasional damsel fly nymph, using sinking fly line. We had our best success letting the fly sink and stripping line in. The best fishing (for us anyway) was at either end of the lake in water shallow enough that we could see bottom. We stayed at Sun Cove resort (very relaxing thanks to owners Brian and Gail). There were several fly fisherman there during our stay. A few bigger fish were caught by fishermen using sink tip or floating line close to shore. One guy brought in a 3+ pounder around 20 or 21 inches. The blue damsel flies were thick and I assume some damsel flies on top would work well. The fish we caught were bright and very energetic. Overall, a good trip.
