Well we got a late start and was on the water about noon and started trolling for walleye pulling the usual bottom bouncer and slow death and other spinners. We came across a point with melon size rocks on the bottom when all 4 poles got hit at the same time. At first we thought they were bass because they were fighting pretty good. Turns out the fish were nice 12" perch. So we made a second pass and caught 3 more perch, all 12" and a little over.
So we decided to anchor and switch over to just jigging with a plain worm on a hook. We ended up catching about 70 perch and kept only the perch that were 12" or bigger. I wasn't expecting it to turn into a perch fishing trip, but I can't pass up the fish especially when they are this quality and size. We ended up with a 1 small mouth, 1 small walleye (released), and about 49 perch.
