While drinking my morning coffee, I contemplated where I was heading today. I chose Lost Lake. I arrived about 11:30 and walked along to the backside of the lake. Fishing was slow, but I did end up limiting out, even though it took several hours to do so. I caught three on pink power eggs off of the bottom, which produced the two nicest fish (including the 1.5 pound carryover), and three on a quarter ounce Kastmaster.

The fish were very active to say the least, it was hooking up with them that was hard. They were literally jumping out of the water all day, and doing all sorts of crazy acrobatics in the air. This was the frustrating part. The Silver/ Green Kastmaster was a hit, but keeping them on was another story. I had at least fifteen hooked and half way to the shore and lost them to their crazy tactics. Several were right up to the shore, almost ready to be landed. Every time I hooked into one, it seemed that it would do nothing but jump out of the water and shake the hook. This happened time and time again.... But ultimately patience one out.

It was cold, around 45 degrees. In fact, there was still some snow around the lake. I made a fire and kept it going all day to warm up when I got cold, which could be another reason it took so long to limit out. I was equally tending the fire and fishing.

Hot fire, cold beer and some decent fishing made for a great day off!

Nice work. I am thinking of checking out Lost tomorrow after I go to Rimrock.
